The world cup has done that thing to me where I forget I don’t like football. It’s something about team sports in international tournaments; brings out all the mushy liberal in me. Look at all the people of different nationalities spending time together and experiencing each other’s cultures! And, well, it is actually quite entertaining to watch. More so than Wimbledon, which still strikes me as glorified Pong.

Plus, the BBC live feed (because obviously I couldn’t watch the footy at work!) comes up with little gems like “There’s no I in Team, but there is Tea, so go put the kettle on”. And I don’t squeak and flail quite as embarrassingly as I do watching it on TV.
