Schwarz

Crawford

Those shiny shiny glasses of doom. I think it's a law of anime: if a bad guy wears glasses, they'll flash when he's angry/upset/evil/insane. So naturally I pick a picture where Crawford's not wearing them.

Name: Brad Crawford

Age: 27 in the first anime

Weapon of choice: Gun

Power: Can see the future (Seer, precognitive, oracle etc)

Codename: Oracle

Nationality: American

Height: approx 192 cm

Past: unknown

Crawford is the leader of Schwarz, presumably appointed such by Rosenkreuz, though it's hard to imagine him in any other position. After all, if you're making plans, wouldn't you want the guy who knows what happens next to do it? He's got a sense of humour, which I'm not sure you want in an evil, megalomaniac assassin, but I'm sure it makes it easier for him to get along with Schwarz. Of all of Schwarz, I see him as being more inclined to rule the world than destroy it (their stated goal). Perhaps he intended to screw them over?

Schuldig

Can't help but love this picture. Schu is famous for his smirk, and here it is in it's full glory.  I think he's stalking Omi here.

Name: Schuldig (real name unknown)

Age: 22 in the first anime

Weapon of Choice: Gun

Power: can read minds (telepath)

Code name: Mastermind

Nationality: German

height: approx 180cm

Past: Unknown

Schuldig means 'guilty' in German. You have to question what kind of a person would name themselves that. Someone who feels their namesake, perhaps, or someone who thinks it's ironic because he doesn't. From what we see of Schuldig, most likely the latter. He's definitely got an edge of sadism, though being a telepath in the city with the highest population density in the world, he's got an edge of masochism as well.

I don't think he's nearly as powerful as fans like to claim (there's not evidence for it), but it's more fun to write him that way. he only mentions once that the voices can be overwhelming, and it doesn't seem to affect him most of the time. It's quite possible he only hears voices when he wants to, as with most fictional telepaths (I'm thinking x-men here, because the parallels are easy to draw), but occasionally lacks the discipline to keep himself focused on only one head. Who knows?

Nagi

He has an affinity with computers. Schwarz also have a very creepy study, with walls, floor and ceiling of stars. Why does no one ever bring that up in a fic, I wonder?
This picture comes from a photo of a calender , hence the reflection on it. I need a better picture editter before I can get rid of that.

Name: Nagi Naoe

Age: 15 in the first anime

Weapon of Choice: Computer

Power: Can move things with his mind (Psychokinetic, telekinetic). Special affinity with Electricity.

Code name: Prodigy

Nationality: Japanese

Past: Killed his mother at a young age and repressed the memory. Grew up in a orphanage run by a nun. Taken away by Crawford after the orphanage was destroyed by Weiss, and holds a special hatred for Ken, as he'd promised he wouldn't let anything happen to the nun.

Oh, poor sweet Nagi. He really didn't like Crawford, you know. And now, thanks to him, he's an assassin. He doesn't really seem to like any of his team mates. When he interacts with Schuldig he seems bored and slightly irritated. Doesn't spend a lot of time around Farf, but considering the Irishman goes on to kill his girlfriend it's probably just as well there wasn't much of a friendship to destroy.

Nagi strikes me as the type to have a very high IQ. He looks down on those less clever than him and bores easily when asked to do trivial things. Hacking is a challenging occupation, though it could be occasionally tedious, but it would still keep him occupied. He never cares much for his team, leaving them to join Kritiker in Germany, though previous to that he seems to have accepted there's no real escape from Schwarz.

He's hot in Gluhen. Nagi grew up! And every Omi/Nagi shipper leaped for joy when Omi defended him from the rest of Weiss.

Farfarello

Farfarello licks knives. With the state of his lips and tongue, he wouldn't exactly be kisser of the month, but of all the Schwarz guys he ends up in the healthiest relationship, with a witch called Sally.

Name: Jei

Age: 19 in the first anime

Weapon of choice: extending knives

Power: Soul-body detachment. Also, he doesn't feel pain, possibly due to this power

Code name: Berserker

Nationality: Irish

Height: Approx 178 cm

Past: Originally a strict catholic, he killed his adoptive family when he found out they were such and his real mother was a nun who had been his Sunday school teacher (I think). He doesn't remember killing his adoptive family, and blames God for letting such tragedy befall a loyal worshipper. His life mission after this is to hurt God.

Farfarello is the name of a demon in Dante's inferno (which is a damn good read). While Schu's choice of name could have many causes, Farf's is pretty blatant. Not a happy bunny.

Farf's personality is a tough cookie to crack, and the message inside isn't exactly easy to read. In the manga he's hooked up in a straightjacket, suspended from the ceiling. He doesn't interact much with the other characters in the anime. His motivations aren't hard to work out, but when he isn't explaining to God why he killed a priest he doesn't let on what's going on in his head.
