There aren't many characters that don't fall into the previous categories, but there are a few. Most exist to provide angst, surprise surprise. Section half finished.

A lot of people think The Fujimiya's are a very traditional Japanese family, and I suppose it's pictures like this that reinforce that idea. Everyone else seems to be Catholic. |
I quite like Aya-chan. She's quite fun when she's consious and not worrying about her brother. Not a fun life, being her. One day you hunt out your brother at the cafe he works out to nag him to go to lunch with you. Next thing you know, there's a news report of your parents' bank on tv and you're dashing down there to see if they're okay. Well, they're not. You get there just in time for a bomb to go off and for that rubble to hit both you and your brother. While your brother'slooking around and going "Who I am?" you're getting hit by the future president's car, just to add insult to injury. In the manga she's already gone by the time that happens. Also in the manga, she's in a Persistant Vegitative State, rather than a coma, which means she's even less likely to wake up, but her eyes are open and occasionally she sneezes or coughs, and so on. Poor big brother.
Somewhere in there, or possibly a while earlier, she gives Ran a pair of earrings, to give to wahatever girlfriend he might eventually get. It's odd, then, that of all the Weiss boy's he's at no point involved in a relationship. You can see where the incest ideas could stem from.
Anyway, pre coma Aya's a healthy, happy teenaged girl with a good sense of humour and a strange taste in gifts. When she finally comes out of it she seems to spend most of her time worrying about why her brother doesn't call. Well, it's not exactly idea, is it? You wake up to find your parents died two years ago and your brother's been missing ever since. You find out he's alive, but apparantly he's abandoned you. I guess Sakura gives him a good press (though whether she tells Aya about Weiss I don't know), since Aya's still keen to see him. He finally calls, then moves halfway across the world. Good going, big brother.
I can't see the similarity until the hair changes, usually, but they do have roughly the same faces. Makes you wonder what Mr (or Mrs, I suppose) Fujimiya got up to. | ![]() |
Sakura is not the brightest girl in the world. Or rather, she's extremely trusting. She trusts the guy who puts voices in her head, for a start, and she trusts whoever stole her kidney to give it back because she asked them to on radio. She also trusts Aya-kun to a startling extent, considering he's a killer. Oh, and she trusts people in France to speak Japanese, since she never shows any ability to speak French.
Actually, the Drama CDs turned my head on Sakura a bit. It's not as though Dramatic Precious makes anyone else particularly likeable. She's a bit more sensible here, and even if her trust in Aya-kun is a bit misplaced (he never does come back) it doesn't stop her from getting on with her life. She already knows she looks like AYa-chan, so maybe she's got a few suspicions of her own... And she does go through a lot for Weiss. See, if I think of it as 'go through a lot for Aya' then I find it slightly pathetic, but if it's for Weiss, and for saving the world, well, that's another matter.
I can never remember how much she knows by the end of it. I guess it depends how much of Schuldig's manipulation she believes. Obviously she sees a fair bit, pretending to be Aya-chan. And we never really know how much she tells her doppleganger. And then she goes to university in France. Fair enough!

I always thought he was a bit ugly in the series. When he's smiling he's not so bad, I guess. Definitely looks far older than Ken. |
Kase is a bastard. I can't believe he was ever a nice person, no matter how much Ken trusted him. Ken has this tendency to trust people who are bad for him (a bit like Sakura - now there's a het couple I haven't seen).
I want to get hold of a screencap from the last episode of Gluhen, to compare with this. It would be interesting if it was this Asuka again. There does seem to be a bit of an amnesia theme in Weiss Kreuz at times. | ![]() |
